- What is the scope of the Iraqi Journal for Applied Science (IJAS)?
The Iraqi Journal for Applied Science (IJAS) is a multidisciplinary peer-reviewed open-access journal published by the University of Diyala – College of Science. It focuses on publishing high-quality original research and review articles in applied sciences. The journal welcomes submissions in the following fields:
- Applied Physics and Nanotechnology
- Chemistry (Analytical, Organic, Inorganic, Physical)
- Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence
- Information Technology and Cybersecurity
- Applied Mathematics and Statistics
- Biotechnology and Biological Sciences
The journal also considers interdisciplinary and emerging topics that contribute to scientific and practical advancements.
- What is the frequency of publication?
IJAS is published quarterly, with four regular issues per year in March, June, September, and December. Special issues may be published occasionally in coordination with academic conferences or thematic calls for papers.
- How can I submit a manuscript?
Manuscripts must be submitted online through the journal’s submission system:
- Create an account or log in via the journal website.
- Choose “Make a Submission”.
- Complete the five-step submission process:

- Upload Submission File
- Enter Metadata (title, abstract, keywords, etc.)
- Confirm Details
- Submit
You will receive a confirmation email upon successful submission.
- What types of manuscripts are accepted?
IJAS accepts the following categories of submissions:
- Original Research Articles
- Review Papers
- Technical Notes and Reports
- Short Communications
- Case Studies
- Special Conference Papers (for indexed proceedings)
All manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
- What is the journal’s review process?
IJAS uses a double-blind peer review process. Every manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the field. The process includes:
- Initial editorial screening (5–15 working days)
- Peer review phase (typically 6–16 weeks)
- First decision and revisions (if needed)
- Final acceptance and copyediting (1–2 weeks)
Average time from submission to final decision: 6–16 weeks.
Fast-track review may be offered for high-priority articles upon editorial approval.
- Is there a publication fee?
Summary of Fee Policy:
- Publication/Processing Fee (APC): 125000 ID
- Color Figures, Tables, or Supplementary Data: Free in digital format
- Foreign Authors: Completely free of charge
- Is the journal open access?
Yes. IJAS is a fully open-access journal, and all articles are freely available to the public. Readers may read, download, copy, and distribute content without restrictions, provided proper citation is maintained.
The journal follows the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license.
- What is the plagiarism and similarity policy?
All submitted manuscripts undergo a plagiarism check using Turnitin. The acceptable similarity index is less than 20%, excluding references and common expressions.
Papers exceeding the limit will be returned to the authors for revision or may be rejected if serious plagiarism is detected.
- Are the articles assigned DOIs and indexed?
Yes. All published articles in IJAS are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) via Crossref, ensuring each article is globally identifiable and citable.
Indexing and archiving efforts include:
- Google Scholar
- Crossref (DOI)
- Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) – in progress
- OpenAIRE
- Scilit
- Dimensions (under evaluation)
Authors will be notified as new indexers are added.
- How do I format my manuscript?
Manuscripts must follow the IJAS template, available on the journal’s “Author Guidelines” page. Basic formatting includes:
- Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx)
- Title, Author information, Abstract (150–250 words), and Keywords
- Standard structure: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion
- References in the required style ( IEEE, or journal-specific format)
Non-compliant submissions will be returned for correction prior to review.
- What is the language of publication?
The journal publishes articles in English. Authors should ensure linguistic accuracy and may use professional editing services if needed
