Instructions to Authors: How to Prepare Your Manuscript for Submission

The following guidelines are provided to assist authors in preparing their manuscripts according to the formatting and editorial policies of the Iraqi Journal for Applied Science (IJAS). Authors are expected to follow these instructions carefully to ensure a smooth peer-review and publication process.

Before submitting a manuscript, authors must ensure that it aligns with the aim and scope of the journal, as outlined on the About Us page. Submissions should be specific, scientifically rigorous, and clearly written.

Required Documents for Submission:

  1. Cover Letter
  2. IJAS Manuscript Template (.docx or .pdf)
  3. Citation and Referencing Guidelines
  4. Ethics Approval Form (for biomedical studies involving human or animal subjects)

Plagiarism and AI Content Policy

All submitted manuscripts are screened using Turnitin for similarity. The journal enforces the following policies strictly:

Plagiarism:

  • Acceptable Similarity Index: Below 20%

20–30%: One opportunity will be given for revision.

Above 30%: Immediate rejection

Plagiarism from a single source must be less than 5%; if it exceeds 10%, the manuscript will be rejected.

Any manipulation of similarity reports will result in permanent blacklisting of the authors and notification of their affiliated institutions.

  • AI-Generated Content:

Acceptable AI usage: ≤ 25%

25–30%: Allowed one revision opportunity.

≥ 30%: Permanently rejected with no resubmission allowed.

Author Names and Affiliations

  • Author names, order, and spelling will be used exactly as provided at initial submission.
  • No changes are allowed after submission.

Preprints Policy

IJAS does not accept manuscripts previously published as non-peer-reviewed preprints. Manuscripts already in plagiarism databases such as Turnitin will be rejected if similarity is high.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Please ensure the following before submission:
