Author Guidelines

Instructions to Authors: How to Prepare Your Manuscript for Submission

The Iraqi Journal for Applied Science (IJAS) welcomes high-quality, original, and scientifically rigorous manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of applied sciences. Authors are requested to carefully follow these guidelines to facilitate efficient peer review and publication.

Before submission, authors should ensure that their manuscript falls within the journal's Aims and Scope and complies with all formatting, ethical, and submission requirements.

Required Documents for Submission

Authors should prepare and submit the following documents:

  • Cover Letter
  • Manuscript prepared using the official IJAS template
  • Ethics Approval Documentation (if applicable)
  • Supplementary Materials (if applicable)

Language Editing

Authors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts are written in clear and professional English prior to submission.

The journal reserves the right to perform minor editorial and language corrections without altering the scientific content of the manuscript.

The journal may return manuscripts with significant language deficiencies before peer review.

AI Disclosure Statement

Authors must disclose the use of artificial intelligence tools in manuscript preparation, data analysis, image generation, or any research-related activity in accordance with the journal’s AI Usage Policy.

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools cannot be listed as authors because they do not meet the journal's authorship criteria.

Author Contributions

Authors are encouraged to provide an Author Contributions Statement describing the specific contribution of each author to the conception, design, execution, analysis, and preparation of the manuscript.

IJAS recommends the use of the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) where appropriate.

Author Identification

ORCID iD

All corresponding authors are required to provide an ORCID iD. Co-authors are strongly encouraged to provide one.

ORCID improves author identification, discoverability, and integration with international scholarly databases.

Research Transparency Requirements

Data Availability Statement

Authors should provide a statement regarding the availability of data supporting the findings of the study.

Examples include:

• Data are publicly available in a repository.

• Data are available upon reasonable request from the corresponding author.

• Data are included within the article and its supplementary files.

• No datasets were generated or analyzed during the current study.

Funding Statement

Authors must disclose all sources of financial support related to the submitted research.

If no funding was received, authors should state:

"The authors received no specific funding for this work."

Conflict of Interest Statement

All authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the reported research.

Potential conflicts involving editors or reviewers will be managed in accordance with the journal's Conflict of Interest Policy.

If no conflicts exist, authors should state:

"The authors declare no conflict of interest."

Publication Ethics

Authors must comply with:

  • Publication Ethics Policy
  • Plagiarism Policy
  • AI Usage Policy
  • Conflict of Interest Policy

The journal follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Research Integrity

Authors must ensure that submitted work is accurate, original, and free from fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or any form of research misconduct.

Author Names and Affiliations

Authors must ensure that:

  • Names are correctly spelled.
  • Author order is finalized before submission.
  • Affiliations are complete and accurate.
  • Corresponding author details are correct.

Changes to authorship after submission may only be considered under exceptional circumstances and with approval from the Editorial Office.

Preprints Policy

Authors must disclose any prior posting of the manuscript on a recognized preprint server at the time of submission.

The existence of a preprint does not automatically prevent consideration for publication, provided that full disclosure is made during submission.

Formatting Requirements

Authors should:

  • Use the official IJAS manuscript template.
  • References should be prepared using the IEEE citation style and listed in the order of appearance in the manuscript.
  • Write in clear and professional English.
  • Ensure consistency in formatting throughout the manuscript.
  • Embed figures and tables at appropriate locations within the text.
  • Include DOI identifiers for references whenever available.

Manuscripts that do not comply with journal formatting requirements may be returned before peer review.

Peer Review

All submissions undergo a rigorous double-anonymous peer-review process conducted by independent experts in the relevant field.

Editorial decisions may include:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject
  • Desk Reject

The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

IJAS charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 150 USD for accepted manuscripts.

  • No submission fees are required.
  • APC is payable only after acceptance. No fees are charged for manuscript submission or peer review.
  • The APC has no influence on editorial decisions or peer-review outcomes.
  • Waivers or discounts may be granted only under exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Editorial Office.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain full copyright and moral rights to their published work.

All published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Privacy Statement

Personal information collected during submission and publication will be used exclusively for journal-related purposes and handled in accordance with the journal’s Privacy Statement.

Submission Checklist

Before completing your submission, the corresponding author confirms that:

  • The submitted manuscript is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere for consideration.
  • All authors have read and approved the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission to the Iraqi Journal for Applied Science (IJAS).
  • The manuscript complies with the journal's Publication Ethics Policy and internationally accepted standards of research integrity.
  • All potential conflicts of interest and sources of funding have been fully disclosed.
  • Any required ethical approvals and informed consent have been obtained, where applicable.
  • The information provided during submission is accurate, complete, and truthful.
  • The authors agree to comply with the journal's editorial policies, peer-review process, and publication requirements.

Submission Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements:

□ The manuscript falls within the Aims and Scope of the Iraqi Journal for Applied Science (IJAS).

□ The manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by another journal.

□ All authors have read and approved the submitted version of the manuscript.

□ The manuscript has been prepared using the official IJAS manuscript template.

□ The corresponding author has provided a valid ORCID iD.

□ References have been prepared according to the IEEE citation style, checked for accuracy and completeness, and include DOI identifiers where available.

□ All figures and tables are of publication quality, properly numbered, and cited within the text.

□ A Conflict of Interest Statement has been included.

□ A Funding Statement has been included, where applicable.

□ A Data Availability Statement has been included, where applicable.

□ Ethical approval information and informed consent have been provided where applicable.

□ Any use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools has been fully disclosed in accordance with the journal's AI Usage Policy.

□ The Cover Letter and all other required submission files have been prepared and uploaded.

□ The manuscript complies with the journal's Publication Ethics Policy, Plagiarism Policy, and AI Usage Policy.

Research Articles

Research Articles Policy

Research Articles present original, unpublished, and scientifically rigorous research that makes a significant contribution to the advancement of applied sciences.

Submissions must comply with the journal's editorial policies, ethical standards, and formatting requirements. All manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment followed by a double-anonymous peer-review process conducted by at least two independent reviewers.

Accepted articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) and are made immediately available through the journal's open-access publishing model.

Authors publishing with the Iraqi Journal for Applied Science (IJAS) retain full copyright and moral rights to their published work.
