Review Process

The Iraqi Journal for Applied Science (IJAS) follows a rigorous and transparent peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scientific integrity of all submitted manuscripts.


Type of Review

IJAS adopts a double-blind peer review process, where:

  • The identities of authors are concealed from reviewers

  • The identities of reviewers are concealed from authors

This ensures an unbiased and objective evaluation.


Review Workflow

The review process consists of the following stages:

  1. Initial Screening
    The editorial office checks the manuscript for scope, formatting, and compliance with journal policies.

  2. Plagiarism Check
    The manuscript is screened using plagiarism detection tools to ensure originality.

  3. Editorial Evaluation
    The Editor-in-Chief or handling editor evaluates the scientific relevance and suitability.

  4. Reviewer Assignment
    The manuscript is assigned to two or more expert reviewers in the relevant field.

  5. Peer Review
    Reviewers evaluate the manuscript and provide detailed feedback and recommendations.

  6. Decision Making
    Based on reviewers’ reports, the editor makes one of the following decisions:

    • Accept

    • Minor Revision

    • Major Revision

    • Reject

  7. Revision Stage
    Authors revise the manuscript according to reviewers’ comments.

  8. Final Decision
    The editor reviews the revised version and makes the final decision.


Review Timeline

  • Initial decision: typically within 4-12 weeks

  • Total processing time may vary depending on revisions


Confidentiality

All manuscripts are treated as confidential documents throughout the review process.


Ethical Compliance

The journal follows the ethical standards and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics to ensure fairness, transparency, and integrity.
